Janani Sampath

President

Hi! I'm Janani, the current president of Sankalpa. I've been a part of this organization for over two years now, and the previous role that I held was that of the overall project coordinator. Sankalpa gives me a way to do my part in alleviating social and economic problems in India. I also find it extremely gratifying to work with a great team, and our camaraderie adds to the efficiency of the organization. Sankalpas reach may be small, but its impact is big! 

(I'm also a 3rd year PhD student in the department of Chemical Engineering at OSU who likes polymers very much). 

Pratik Mehta

Vice-President

​Hi. My name is Pratik. I am doing my Masters in Industrial Systems Engineering. I am also working under Dr. Altan in his research field of Sheet metal forming. Currently, I am serving as Vice-President of Sankalpa. Sankalpa, to me, is like family away from home. I like the idea of ‘pay it forward’ and that is why I joined Sankalpa

Rachit Aggarwal

Treasurer

Hello, I am Rachit Aggarwal, a graduate student in Department of Mechanical Engineering. I joined Sankalpa very soon after coming to OSU in 2015. Since then it has been my second family. Sankalpa gave me a platform to connect back to your home country and contribute to its development. I am currently serving as the Treasurer and enjoy filling-in for all kinds of Tech support.

Pooja Gangras

Overall Project Coordinator

Hi! My name is Pooja. I am a PhD student in the department of Molecular Genetics. I am currently working in two labs to understand the role of specific RNA-binding proteins in muscle development. I am the overall project coordinator of Sankalpa for the academic year 2016-2017. I joined to Sankalpa to better understand the socio-economic problems faced by the people in India and contribute in some way to alleviate their problems.

Madhura Athale

Assistant Project Coordinator

Hi I'm Madhura! I'm a master's student at the mechanical engineering department at OSU, currently in my second year. This is also my second year with the Sankalpa family! While trying to do my bit in giving back to the society, this work gives me immense satisfaction and motivation to keep going. This family away from home has given me love and a lot to learn.

Aanandita Katre

Events' Head

I am Aanandita Katre. I am a Master’s student in Mechanical Engineering at the Ohio State University. I work as a Graduate Research Associate with Dr. Taylan Altan, my research being focused on sheet metal forming. I am the Events’ Coordinator at Sankalpa.

 

Rutuja Joshi

Secretary

​Hi! My name is Rutuja. I am a Master’s student in chemical and biomolecular engineering and I am the current secretory of Sankalpa. Sankalpa for me is an opportunity to contribute towards making small positive changes for people in India that initiate a great difference. Sankalpa has also given me great friends and memories. My hobbies are listening to music, trekking and I am trained in Indian classical dance- Kathak!

Denethi Wijegunawardana

Outreach Coordinator

I'm Denethi Wijegunawardana, an Undergraduate majoring in Microbiology Honors with Pre-Medicine. My passion to give back to our community and make a difference in the society encouraged me to join Sankalpa and as a US National ranked table tennis player, I enjoy using my public relationships to serve as the Outreach Coordinator. Sankalpa has also blessed me with a wonderful group of friends. 

Dikshit Bhandary

WebMaster

Hi! I am Dikshit. I am currently pursuing my Masters in Chemical Engineering from The Ohio State University with thesis under Dr. Bakshi's research group for Sustainability. I joined Sankalpa in June 2016 and currently I am  enjoying my role as WebMaster in Sankalpa. Sankalpa, for me, is the platform where I try to give back to the society. 

Sharvari Karandikar

Faculty Advisor

Hello, I am Sharvari Karandikar-Chedda, an associate professor in the College of Social Work. Having worked with NGOs in India, I was in search of an organization at OSU that I can guide with my experience and Sankalpa fits right into it.
